DESCRIPTION:Bassist Will Goble brings his trio featuring Atlanta regulars Dave Potter and Gregory Tardy To Snug Co ncerts to celebrate the release of his third full length album as a leader\, “The Charm of Every Season.”  \nGoble and Potter\, longtime collaborators in Jason Marsalis’s Vibes Quartet as well as their own projects\, reunite once again with Tardy\, a veteran of groups led by Bill Frisell\, Elvin Jones\, Andrew Hill\, Tom Harrell and a prolific bandleader with 18 albums to his credit. Potter is well-known to Atlanta audiences for his veteran presence on the scene with many of Atlanta’s greats\, as well as his nostalgic 80s highwire “Retro Groove” projectm\, while Tardy is a longtime Atlanta trailblazer who helped shape the musical community in the area and has shared a vast range of inspiring work with the Atlanta community across decades.  \nIn this new intimate trio setting\, Will draws from sources that reflect his many influences as a bassist and bandleader mentored within rich southern musical traditions. Specializing in the kora\, a 21-stringed harp from the Mandé region of West Africa\, Althea’s performances offer a rare and intimate experience that blends tradition\, scholarship\, and sonic beauty. \nThis event takes place inside the contemporary art exhibition:  “Peace\, Reconciliation and the Potential for Transformation” which showcases the work of Mozambican sculptor Gonçalo Mabunda. His sculptures\, made from decommissioned weapons\, speak to the power of art to heal and transform. aKAZI ATL (a gallery focused on showing contemporary art from the African Continent and its Diaspora) is curating and hosting this exhibition in collaboration with Emory University’s Michael C. Carlos Museum and its fall exhibition Insistent Presence. \nThis night is a full sensory experience where the textures of sculpture and sound meet on Auburn Avenue at the Haugabrooks building in the center of the historic Sweet Auburn district.
